Bent Tree Main Entrance

Bent Tree Entrance from Strickland Road- Carriage Tour Lane

Bent Tree lies at the northern edge of Midtown. The entry shown above is at Strickland Road , which is part of the southern border of Bent Tree. The I-540 Outer Loop is to its north. It is convenient to the I-540 interchange at Falls of the Neuse Road, saving time for many commutes, such as to Research Triangle Park.

My impression driving through Bent Tree is of custom houses built on spacious wooded lots. There is a club house with a swimming pool and tennis courts around the corner. The Honeycutt Creek Trail access is close to the tennis facility.

From the entrance at Strickland Road it is a short drive to shopping and restaurants at or near the intersection of Strickland and Falls of the Neuse Road to the East, or Strickland and Six Forks Roads to the West.

Driving Through Bent Tree

Main Entrance, Carriage Tour Lane

The main entry to Bent Tree, pictured at the top of the page, is Carriage Tour Lane. It is divided by a median with well maintained , mature landscaping from the entry to the first of two main cross streets, Chatterson Drive.

Club House and Swimming Pool

Just past the Chatterson intersection on the right is the club house and swimming pool. Continuing on Carriage Tour brings you past the Hometown Drive intersection to a cul-de-sac.

Chatterson Drive and Chatterson Loop

Chatterson Drive is the first intersection after the main entrance. A right turn takes you immediately past the Honeycutt Creek Trail, the tennis courts, and through the homes in the eastern part of Bent Tree.

Taking Chatterson to a left on Bell Grove, to a left on Mumm Lane and back to Chatterson makes a big loop. A number of roads run off the loop, including Baybush Drive, which leads to an entrance off Falls of the Neuse Road.

Honeycutt Creek Trail Entrance From Chatterson Drive

The Honeycutt Creek Trail starts at Chatterson Drive ( entrance shown above), and leads to Honeycutt Park north of the I-540 Outer Loop. The route includes a tunnel under the Outer Loop. You might enjoy reading this blog review of the Trail.

Baybush-Falls of Neuse Entrance to Bent Tree Runs From Chatterson Loop

A right on to Baybush just before Chatterson ends in a cul-de-sac takes you to a secondary Bent Tree entrance from Falls of the Neuse Road. The entrance is at the north side of the Kroger anchored shopping center at the Strickland and Falls of Neuse Roads intersection. This makes it very convenient to shop for basics or go to a restaurant without having to deal with the main roads.

Hometown Drive and Hometown Drive Loop

Hometown Drive is the second intersection reached from the Strickland Road entrance. It is the main road through the western part of Bent Tree. It ends at Berry Hill Drive, where making a left circles you back onto Hometown. Notice that portions of Hometown Drive parallel and are adjacent to the I-540 Outer Loop.
